Problem with the washer in new Tesla Model Y
The updated Tesla Model Y has encountered its first serious issue—a recall due to a defect in the windshield washer system. It turned out that a supplier from Malaysia produced faulty plastic connectors that blocked the fluid supply. Unlike many other cases where Tesla fixed issues with software updates, this situation will require a visit to the service center.
Although the defect is not as critical as, for example, brake failure or suspension problems, it still poses a danger. A dirty windshield can limit the driver’s visibility, as confirmed by official recall documents.
The supplier confirmed to Tesla that they did not inspect the tools after repair, which led to the defect.
How Tesla discovered the problem
The company independently identified the malfunction during a test drive on April 18. After that, inspections of other vehicles and communication with the supplier began. It turned out that the defective parts did not meet safety standards, so Tesla decided to replace them with new ones. Fortunately, the issue affected only 172 vehicles, and no incidents related to it have been recorded.
So far, there have been no complaints from Model Y owners regarding this malfunction. Had the defect been more widespread, it could have created significant challenges for Tesla service centers. Replacing the faulty parts should resolve the issue without major complications.
