BMW created this GT specifically to tease buyers in the US

BMW introduced the new Speedtop – a limited series in shooting brake style

Despite modern trends in the automotive industry, BMW continues to experiment with unique design solutions. The new Speedtop model, unveiled at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025, is an evolution of last year’s Skytop concept in a shooting brake format.

The company plans to produce only 70 of these cars, and unlike the previous Skytop model, this version will not be available in the US market.

Design and Features

The Speedtop retains the distinctive features of the Skytop, such as slim LED headlights, illuminated grille, and low-mounted taillights. However, the upper body has been completely redesigned – the roofline smoothly transitions into a new rear section with a spoiler.

“The profile of the BMW Concept Speedtop is very unique for the automotive industry. We created a statement for our entire lineup, especially for the Touring models,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Design.

Interior and Technical Specifications

The Speedtop’s cabin is designed for two passengers, and the luggage space is upholstered in leather and equipped with special compartments for suitcases from the Italian brand Schedoni. Technically, the model received BMW’s most powerful V8 engine – likely the 4.4-liter unit producing 617 hp paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

This model will be an exclusive offering for collectors, but the exact price has not yet been disclosed. Given the limited production and hand assembly, the cost will be significantly higher than standard BMW models.

Despite the increase in production from 50 to 70 units, the Speedtop will remain a rare car. Its absence in the US market may disappoint local brand enthusiasts, but this only underscores the exclusivity of the project.
