Lexus LC 500 to Receive Limited Pinnacle Edition Series
Lexus is preparing a special version of the LC 500 called the Pinnacle Edition for the Japanese market. This limited series of 200 cars will be the last opportunity to purchase the model with a naturally aspirated V8 before it is discontinued. Both coupe and convertible versions with unique design solutions will be available.
The Final Chord for the V8
Despite the general trend towards electrification, Lexus continues to honor its legendary naturally aspirated engines. After releasing special versions of the IS 500 and other models, it is now the turn of the LC 500. Japanese sources report that production of this model, which has been on sale since 2017, will soon cease.
The publication reports that the Pinnacle Edition will be the final chapter in the V8 story for the Japanese market
Exclusive Details
The special version will receive a number of unique elements:
The interior will be trimmed in semi-aniline leather and carbon fiber accents. The engine’s technical specifications will remain unchanged – a 5.0-liter V8 with 471 hp paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Sales Conditions
Production is limited to 100 units of each version, which will be available exclusively in Japan. Buyers will be selected via a lottery, with half of the quotas allocated for customers who already own a Lexus. The price starts at approximately $109,000 for the coupe.
An official presentation is expected on June 26. It is not yet known if a similar version will appear for North America. The future of the hybrid LC 500h also remains in question. The LC model, which debuted in 2017, has established itself as Lexus’s flagship grand tourer, combining stunning design with comfort for long journeys.
Although the LC 500 was never positioned as the successor to the legendary LFA, it has become an important part of the brand’s lineup. Previous rumors suggest that a new generation of the model may appear later this decade, possibly on the same platform as the future Toyota GR Supra. For now, the Pinnacle Edition will serve as a worthy farewell card for one of the last Japanese V8s in the premium segment.
