Ford has conducted two new recalls affecting 407 vehicles. The first concerns 404 Escape and Bronco Sport model vehicles due to possible oil leaks that could lead to a fire. The second recall affects only three Explorer SUVs due to problems with the brake caliper mounting.
In the first case, the cause was insufficiently strong metal casting of the cylinder head, causing the plugs to fall out and resulting in an oil leak. Ford found that the problem occurred due to power supply interruptions at the supplier during the heat treatment of the parts. In the second case, technicians likely improperly tightened the caliper mounting bolts during previous repairs.

Details of the problems and their solutions
In the first recall, Ford offers a complete replacement of the cylinder heads for all vehicles manufactured on the “problematic” days. This applies to 2023-2025 model year Escape and 2025 Bronco Sport models. In the second case, for the three Explorers, the caliper mounting bolts will simply be tightened or replaced.
Interestingly, the first problem was detected back in March when one Bronco Sport with a missing plug was repaired. Later, another brand new Escape with a similar problem was found, which prompted the company to conduct a more detailed investigation. The second problem was discovered after an owner complained about a knocking sound in the front of the vehicle – an inspection revealed the absence of two caliper bolts.
Lately, Ford has been actively issuing recall notices, which may indicate enhanced quality control. Although some of these steps concern a small number of vehicles, they show how modern monitoring systems allow for the detection of even minimal deviations from the norm. It is especially worth noting that in both cases, the problems were detected before any serious incidents on the road occurred.
