Ford and General Motors Caused the Return of Hemi Engines

V8 Comeback: Ram 1500 Once Again Offers Hemi

When Ram introduced the updated version of the pickup in the fall of 2023, the reaction was mixed. While the updated design received approval, the discontinuation of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 caused outrage among brand fans.

People hate having their choice taken away. Even if the new 3.0-liter turbocharged Hurricane engine offers better performance, customers do not want to have a decision forced upon them.

Why Did Ram Bring Back the Hemi?

The manufacturer realized it was losing a portion of customers who prefer a V8. Such buyers often switch to competitors and rarely return. This forced Ram to launch the F15 program for the quick return of the legendary engine.

Although the Hemi was offered in 2024, its integration into the 2026 model required 18 months of work. The updated version of the 5.7-liter V8 produces 395 hp and 555 Nm of torque. The engine is available as an option for $1200 and comes with a sport exhaust system.

The return of the Hemi is expected to cause a wave of demand, so the first few months may be challenging for dealers. However, the manufacturer later plans to establish stable supplies to meet customer needs.

Interestingly, Ram’s decision demonstrates the importance of the emotional connection between a brand and its followers. Even in the era of environmental restrictions, traditional technologies can remain relevant thanks to consumer loyalty.
