In China, it seems there is nothing left that cannot be copied — at least, if it has a clear shape, a shiny surface, and even remotely resembles something European. This time, the Porsche 911 in the 964 body has fallen under the “press” of Chinese engineers — the very one that was produced in Germany from 1989 to 1993.

The company Jiangsu Aodun Automotive Industry Co. has introduced a reproduced body of the legendary sports car, made of steel using stamping and welding methods. That is, no carbon fiber, only old-school metal, just like the original. Prices have not been announced yet, but one can assume that a brand new “body package” for your retro 911 will cost less than restoring the original.
This is not the Chinese company’s first experience in this genre: their portfolio already includes bodies for:
- Toyota AE86,
- Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40,
- Land Rover Defender,
- Ford Bronco from the 60s,
- Ford Escort Mk2 Coupe.
Interestingly, the demand for this product comes from the West: restomod builders, rally fans, and collectors are showing considerable interest in such parts.

So, if you thought the Chinese only craft fake Rolexes or “Loois Vuittin” bags, you’ll have to reconsider your ideas. It seems the next step will be manufacturing clones not only of cars but also of their owners. Why not — if you can order a “new body” for a Porsche, then why not “upgrade” yourself too?
