This Hot Mercedes Model from Hot Wheels Contains a Warning for Adults

Joint Project of Mercedes and Hot Wheels

Mercedes and Hot Wheels have joined forces to present a unique CLA model. This is the newest part of the Class of Creators series, which also includes a CLA in “molten chrome” style, created in collaboration with Ice Spice.

Inspired by Childhood Dreams

Fortunately, this latest concept is much better, as it pays tribute to “the boundless imagination of childhood, when cars were not just a means of transportation but also an invitation to dream.” The model also celebrates automotive passion, which is usually ignited at an early age through 1:64 scale die-cast cars.

As a result, the CLA received Hot Wheels styling with pink glass, wide body kit, and a massive diffuser. These are complemented by a huge rear spoiler, multi-colored wheels, and bright liveries.

Color Palette and Design

According to Mercedes, the color scheme is borrowed from the classic Hot Wheels aesthetic, combining bright orange, pink, and blue tones. The company added that “the oversized flame elements give a retro-futuristic look reminiscent of 1980s pop culture.”

Road Version and Future Plans

The concept was presented at the Hot Wheels Legends Tour in El Segundo last weekend and will be transformed into a die-cast toy next spring. As for the road model, the CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4MATIC EV are planned to appear in America this year.

CLA 250+ Technical Specifications

The first one has a rear engine with 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and torque of 247 lb-ft (335 Nm). This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in approximately 6.6 seconds before reaching a limited top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h).

CLA 350 4MATIC Model

Similarly, the CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ technology has an all-wheel drive system with two engines producing 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and torque of 380 lb-ft (515 Nm). Thanks to the additional power and traction, acceleration to 60 mph (96 km/h) occurs in 4.8 seconds.

Important Caveats for Buyers

Of course, you will probably want to avoid the initial model, as it will not work with 400-volt DC fast chargers. Cars with this capability will not appear until the spring of 2026, and the company is already warning consumers to “contact your dealer to confirm [compatibility] before purchasing.”

This project demonstrates how the automotive industry is increasingly turning to nostalgia and pop culture to create an emotional connection with buyers. The collaboration between a premium car manufacturer and a toy maker opens up new marketing opportunities, especially among the younger audience who grew up collecting miniature cars. The technological features of the electric versions, however, remind us of the challenges manufacturers face when implementing new charging standards.
