Toyota Presents Modified Versions of the New Hilux Pickup

Toyota showcased several modified versions of the new Hilux pickup at the model’s official launch in Thailand. Among them were off-road vehicles, a custom travel camper, and a sport version. All of them are equipped with both original manufacturer accessories and parts from third-party tuners.

Diversity of Custom Solutions

At least six modified versions of the pickup were presented at the stand, each designed for different customer needs. One of the models received accessories from the GR Parts catalog, including a black radiator grille, a red skid plate, glossy black wheel arch extensions, branded side steps, and black wheels with powerful tires.

Other available options from the Gazoo Racing division include roof and body rails, as well as distinctive red mudguards. In the future, Toyota plans to release a GR Sport version for the new Hilux, which will feature a more aggressive look, improved performance, and an updated chassis.

The Most Impressive Models

However, the model with GR Parts accessories was not the most impressive at the exhibition. The company showed an off-roader modified by the Australian tuner ARB. This version received a high suspension lift kit, a sturdy front bumper with cutouts to increase ground clearance, additional LED lights, roof rails, a side awning, and special mounts for equipment in the cargo bed.

A custom camper based on the Hilux with a tent installed on a special body frame stood out. This adventure model is equipped with a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, beadlock wheels, protective side steps, a skid plate with integrated lighting, an LED panel on the roof, and an aerodynamic snorkel.

Unique Features and Configurations

Another rugged version of the Hilux featured a unique matte gray-red paint job and equipment that included a snorkel, protective elements, a lifted suspension, new wheels, a carbon fiber exhaust tip, and mudguards.

Unlike the European and Australian versions of the pickup, which are only available as a double cab, the Thai model is also offered in Standard Cab and Smart Cab configurations. The former served as the basis for a stylish custom project with a lifted suspension, black wheels, a white and black design, extended mirrors, and a metal structure that increases the volume of the cargo compartment.

Sport Variant

Separately, it is worth mentioning the sport version of the Hilux with a yellow wrap and carbon texture on the hood and rear doors, a lowered suspension, new wheels, and improved brakes. Despite its aggressive appearance, the model retained the standard 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine with 201 hp. Depending on the region, the new Hilux will also be available with mild-hybrid diesel, gasoline, and fully electric powertrains.

Official Accessories

The official Toyota Thailand website presents a wide range of accessories for the pickup. These include additional plastic door overlays, more durable wheel arch extensions, various door handle covers, a rear spoiler, a stainless steel exhaust tip, body protective covers, underbody protection, as well as metal overlays for the rear lights, rear doors, hood, and bumper air intakes. For the interior, the company offers more durable floor mats, aluminum protective plates, and storage solutions.

Tuning Culture in Thailand

Thailand has a developed tuning culture, so most automakers actively advertise the customization possibilities for their pickups. Given the popularity of the Hilux and the variety of projects presented, one can expect many more interesting modifications of this model to appear in the future. The model range and availability of different configurations allow the pickup to be adapted to specific needs, making it a universal choice for markets where both practicality and individuality are important.
