The fully electric third-generation Nissan Juke has been spotted during testing on European roads. This car, which has always stood out for its uniqueness among compact SUVs, is preparing for a significant step forward. The camouflaged prototype is already undergoing testing, indicating its approaching market debut scheduled for 2026.

The future Juke first appeared in an official teaser back in March, where it shared attention with the next generation of Micra and Leaf. Interestingly, the electric version will not replace the current model with an internal combustion engine. Instead, Nissan plans to continue selling gasoline and hybrid versions alongside the new electric one, providing buyers with a wider choice of powertrains.
Design and Exterior
Even under thick camouflage, the prototype’s proportions reveal many details about its direction. The compact and muscular stance is reminiscent of the Ford Puma Gen-E, but Nissan maintains its individuality thanks to angular wings, sharp split LED headlights, and characteristic tapered glass that echoes previous Juke generations.
The rear borrows some elements from the Nissan Kicks, but the rear window is more slanted and the trunk lid is more refined for a sporty look. The prototype rides on futuristic large alloy wheels, painted black. Retractable door handles on the front doors and hidden handles on the C-pillars can also be noticed – just like in the original. Overall, the design is significantly softened compared to the 2023 Hyper Punk concept.
Chassis and Powertrain
While Nissan has not yet disclosed details about the new Juke’s base, it is known that the model will be manufactured at the plant in Sunderland, UK. The new Juke EV is expected to use a shortened version of the AmpR Medium (CMF-EV) platform, which also underpins the Leaf and Ariya, both of which are produced at the same plant. An alternative could be the AmpR Small (CMF-BEV) platform from the Micra, which is assembled in Douai, France.
Whichever option is chosen, a single front electric motor is likely to be installed, possibly paired with two available battery sizes to expand the appeal and price flexibility in the segment.
Competitors and Market Prospects
When the new Nissan Juke EV appears in 2026, it will compete with models such as the Peugeot e-2008, Fiat 600e, Jeep Compass, Opel Mokka Electric, Mini Aceman, Ford Puma Gen-E, as well as the future siblings VW ID. Cross and Skoda Epiq.
The electric compact SUV market is becoming increasingly crowded, and the arrival of the Juke EV could be a key moment for Nissan in the fight for market share.
