Toyota Expands the Land Cruiser 250 Range for the European Market

Toyota continues to expand the offering of the full-size Land Cruiser 250 SUV in Europe, announcing two new versions for the 2026 model year. One of them is inspired by the American “1958” modification. This step aims to make the popular SUV even more attractive to buyers.

New VX Off-Road Version

The first novelty is the VX version, focused on off-road capability. It received classic round headlights, like on the American model, and an exclusive “Smoky Blue” metallic paint. Key updates include roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as important technical improvements: an electronic rear differential lock and a disconnectable front stabilizer bar, which improves wheel articulation.

Furthermore, the Land Cruiser VX is equipped with Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Crawl Control systems. The interior features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a multimedia screen of the same size, and a cooled box on the rear console. This version is perfectly suited for serious travel and expeditions.

Other Available Trims

Positioned above the VX is the VX-L version. It includes power-adjustable leather seats for the driver and front passenger with heating and ventilation. Options also add a 14-speaker JBL audio system, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, a sunroof, and 20-inch wheels. At the customer’s request, a panoramic roof can be installed instead of the sunroof. This version has a Torsen limited-slip differential instead of an electronic lock.

The base version for Europe remains the TX with 18-inch wheels, fabric upholstery, side steps, mudguards, and a rearview camera. The slightly more comfortable TX-L version offers synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a drive mode selection system.

Engines and Market Specifics

In Western Europe, the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 is offered exclusively with a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine, supplemented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. In Eastern European countries, the new VX and VX-L models can be ordered either with a conventional 2.8-liter diesel without electrification or with a 2.4-liter gasoline turbo engine.

The appearance of new versions, especially the off-road-oriented VX model, clearly demonstrates Toyota’s strategy for deeper coverage of different buyer segments. On one hand, the brand emphasizes the model’s heritage and authenticity by borrowing design elements from historical versions. On the other hand, it continues to develop the technological component, offering modern safety and comfort systems even in the most basic trims. Such flexibility, combined with the legendary reputation for reliability, could significantly strengthen the Land Cruiser’s position in the competitive European SUV market.
