Images of the Upcoming Volkswagen Novelty
Ahead of the official premiere scheduled for this spring, images of the Volkswagen ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI electric hatchbacks have appeared online. The source of the leak remains unknown, but the photos managed to spread on social networks before they began to be deleted. However, as always, the internet remembers everything.
Design and Features of the New Models
The exterior of the new ID. Polo strongly resembles the ID.2all concept but has received a more traditional radiator grille and lighting units. The car is also equipped with larger door mirrors and less bright body elements. The sporty GTI version is distinguished by a unique front bumper with a sportier air intake, a honeycomb mesh, vertical daytime running lights, as well as a red stripe and a “GTI” logo under the grille.

Dimensions and Interior
The company has already confirmed that the model’s length will be 4053 mm, width – 1816 mm, and height – 1530 mm. The wheelbase is 2600 mm. This roughly corresponds to the dimensions of the conventional Polo on the MQB platform, but the cabin of the electric version is 19 mm longer and offers more headroom and legroom for rear passengers.
The trunk offers 435 liters of usable volume, which can be increased to 1243 liters by folding the rear seats. The driver’s cabin will feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 13-inch multimedia system. The minimalist interior also includes a two-spoke steering wheel, physical switches, and metal accents.
Technical Specifications and Batteries
The ID. Polo will be built on the MEB+ platform. The engine lineup includes several power options: 114 hp, 133 hp, and 208 hp for the standard versions. The power of the sporty ID. Polo GTI, whose debut is expected a year later, will be 223 hp.
The 114 hp and 133 hp models will receive a 37 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery with fast-charging capability of up to 90 kW. More powerful variants will be equipped with a larger 52 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, promising a range of up to 450 kilometers. Their peak fast-charging power will be 130 kW.

Price and Expectations
The official presentation of the ID. Polo lineup will take place soon. Volkswagen previously stated that the starting price for the novelty would be around 25,000 euros.
The emergence of an affordable electric hatchback from a mass manufacturer like Volkswagen could be an important step in popularizing electric vehicles in Europe. Competition in the small and compact EV segment is intensifying, and the ID. Polo seems to be betting on a proven formula of practicality and design adapted to new technologies. The model’s success will largely depend on the real-world range, charging speed, and, of course, the final price after sales begin.
