The incident occurred in Bonita Springs, and the arrest was made by Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Lopez was arrested, and the officer reminded her of the state’s so-called “Super Speeder law.” This provision stipulates severe penalties for those who exceed the speed limit by 50 mph (80 km/h) or more.
Arrest and Upcoming Court Date
The woman was detained on the night of April 9 on suspicion of driving under the influence and speeding. Later the same day, she was released from custody after posting a $3,500 bond. In addition to the main charges, she is also accused of aggressive driving and using a vehicle with a modified exhaust system.
The offender now faces a court hearing. Drivers found guilty under the “Super Speeder law” can receive up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.
