Maserati dealer reduces Grecale EV price by $20,000, but the car still looks overpriced

Dealer discounts on Maserati Grecale Folgore reach $20,000

Maserati dealerships are trying to get rid of their inventory of the 2025 electric crossover Grecale Folgore. Due to low demand, sellers are forced to offer significant discounts, which in some cases reach $20,000. However, even after such a price reduction, the cost of many vehicles remains above $100,000.

Why is Maserati losing the competition?

Maserati made a mistake by replacing the Levante model with the Grecale, but didn’t stop there. The manufacturer decided to offer a fully electric Folgore version with a starting price of $119,900 for the 2026 model year. This is extremely expensive, especially compared to the Porsche Macan Electric, which starts at $80,300. This looks even more strange when you consider that the Macan Turbo Electric costs $112,700 and has significantly more power.

Consumers seem to have noticed this discrepancy. We found several Maserati dealerships offering huge discounts on the slow-selling Grecale Folgore. For example, Jim Ellis Maserati in Chamblee, Georgia, has several new 2025 models in stock with discounts of over $15,000.

Specific discount examples

A silver example has the largest price reduction: the initial price of $136,645 has been reduced to $117,149. This is a savings of $19,496, which is almost enough to buy a new Hyundai Venue.

The same dealer also offers a white Grecale Folgore with a discount of $16,903, as well as a black model marked down by $16,767. The latter now costs $101,683, which still seems high.

In Connecticut, the Valenti Maserati dealership is offering similar discounts. Two electric 2025 Grecale Folgores are selling for under $100,000. The cheapest of them is priced at $97,675, which is $17,210 below the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Another variant of the Maserati Grecale Folgore with a discount

Another model originally had a price tag of $116,855, but its cost was reduced to $99,329, providing savings of $17,526. Of course, potential buyers can try to negotiate and get an even better deal.

Technical specifications of the 2026 Maserati Grecale Folgore

As for the 2026 model, it is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 542 horsepower (404 kW) and 604 lb-ft (818 Nm) of torque. This allows the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (0-96 km/h) in exactly four seconds, reach a top speed of 137 miles per hour (220 km/h), and have a range of up to 286 miles (460 km). However, this figure drops to 239 miles (385 km) when using 21-inch wheels.

Maserati Grecale Folgore on the road

The situation surrounding the Maserati Grecale Folgore demonstrates how even a premium brand can miscalculate pricing in the electric vehicle market. Despite significant discounts that sometimes reach $20,000, the cost of the car still remains above the psychological threshold of $100,000. This puts it at a disadvantage compared to direct competitors such as the Porsche Macan Electric, which offers better or similar features for less money. For Maserati, this is a signal of the need to review the pricing strategy and positioning of its electric models, since even aggressive discounts do not guarantee quick sales if the base cost is perceived by the market as unjustifiably high.
