GMC has released the first image of the updated 2027 Sierra pickup, which will soon hit the market. This move is a logical continuation following the presentation of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 last week. A darkened photo of the model appeared on the manufacturer’s website with the caption “soon.”
Judging by the teaser, the new gasoline pickup visually resembles the electric Sierra EV version. The vehicle features stylish daytime running lights positioned above the central headlights. A illuminated GMC logo, a sculpted hood, and new side mirrors are also noticeable.
Interior and technology
Inside, a high-tech space is expected, featuring a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 16.3-inch infotainment system. Top-tier versions will likely include an additional 11.5-inch display for the front passenger. It is possible that the flagship Denali trim will receive a unique interior to set it apart from lower trims.
Chevrolet has already revealed some details about the 2027 Silverado: the Multi-Flex multifunctional center console, dual wireless smartphone charging, and a panoramic roof. The Super Cruise system and genuine wood trim will also be available in the High Country trim.
Engines and performance
Under the hood, both new and updated powertrains will appear. The main novelty is the new generation of V8 engines with displacements of 5.7 and 6.6 liters. Chevy claims this will be “the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class.” These engines are related to the 6.7-liter LS6 V8 from the updated Corvette, which produces 535 hp and 704 Nm of torque.
In addition to the V8, buyers will be offered an “improved” 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel. Thus, the choice of powertrains will be quite broad.
The GMC Sierra lineup update comes as the pickup truck market actively shifts towards turbo engines and electrification. Nevertheless, the company is betting on powerful naturally aspirated V8s, which could become a key advantage for buyers who value traditional torque and reliability. At the same time, the availability of a turbo-diesel and an improved four-cylinder engine indicates a desire to cover different consumer segments — from those seeking efficiency to those who need maximum performance. The visual similarity to the Sierra EV also hints at design unification within the GMC lineup, helping to create a cohesive brand image regardless of the powertrain type.
