In China, an unusual car that attracted attention several years ago with its extreme proportions has been spotted again. This time, the creators decided to radically change its appearance, transforming it into a likeness of the BMW M3.
Misleading appearance
Although the car looks like the famous German sedan, it is actually built on the basis of a Volkswagen Lamando L. To achieve this effect, no one sacrificed a real M3. The creators replicated the most recognizable BMW details, including headlights that look like original ones or are very high-quality replicas.
The most controversial detail
The most attention is drawn to the radiator grille. Instead of one pair of “kidneys” from the G80 M3, this car received four huge blackened grilles at once. This design makes the front of the car very unusual and, to put it mildly, not for everyone.
The rear reveals the true origin
From the rear, the car resembles the original VW Lamando more, as the shape of the roof and rear doors remains unchanged. However, to emphasize the similarity to the M3, rear lights inspired by BMW design were installed.

Interior unchanged
Inside, the car has no hints of BMW. The interior is completely identical to the standard VW Lamando L, except that the VW emblem on the steering wheel has been covered up. A new widescreen display, oriented toward the front passenger, has also appeared on the dashboard.
Technical part: a complete opposite
Under the hood of this “M3” is not at all the powerful 3.0-liter BMW engine. Instead, the original 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine from Volkswagen is installed. The weight of the car remains a mystery, but it is known that in standard form, the Lamando could carry up to 10 people. The interior of this example has been simplified: instead of regular seats, bean bag chairs have been installed, so it can likely still accommodate a group of people.
This project is a striking example of automotive tuning where the main goal is to create a visual illusion rather than improve technical characteristics. Despite the car looking like a powerful sports car, its essence remains purely civilian. Such cars often appear in China, where the car modification culture sometimes leads to very unexpected and extravagant results that provoke a stormy reaction online. This case shows how far enthusiasts can go to create a car that attracts attention, even if its base does not match its appearance.
