32-Year-Old Audi Sedan That Outruns Modern Supercars

Unique Audi S4 with Record Speed Put Up for Auction

Modern Audi sports models are known for their speed, but even the R8 cannot stand up to this 32-year-old sedan. The modified S4 once held the world record as the fastest production sedan, and now fans of extreme cars have a chance to purchase it.

This car, despite the S4 designation, is significantly different from modern models. It was built on the basis of the Audi 100 – the predecessor of today’s A6/S6. The original 2.2-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine produced 227 hp, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 240 km/h (149 mph).

Technical Features

The current owner, Jeff Gerner of Four Ring Performance, has significantly modified the car. The engine received billet components and a huge Borg Warner S400SX turbocharger, which made it possible to extract 1155 hp and 957 Nm (706 lb-ft) of torque at the wheels.

“On the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2012, this S4 showed a maximum speed of 420 km/h (261 mph) with an average speed of 383 km/h (238 mph)”

To achieve such performance, the car was equipped with carbon windows, a six-point safety cage, a fire extinguishing system, and a braking parachute. All these elements have been preserved to this day.

Purchase Opportunity

This unique specimen, probably one of the fastest Audis in the world, is now available for purchase. Although the car is ready for new record runs, the seller claims that under certain conditions it can be adapted for public roads – if a brave enough buyer is found.

The auction has already started, and now the whole world has been given the chance to become the owner of this legendary machine. It is worth noting that such specimens appear for sale extremely rarely, and their historical value only grows over the years.
