by The archaeological mission in Pompeii was crowned with success thanks to an unexpected discovery by historians. Beneath the ruins of the ancient city, they discovered a chariot that cannot be compared to others – archaeologists compare it to a Lamborghini. The find proved that our ancestors had taste.
Researchers consider their find exceptional because, until now, no team of scientists had managed to find anything in Pompeii with such a number of well-preserved details. According to mission representatives, the chariot is perfectly preserved, with consideration for its age – two thousand years. All four wheels are in place, iron armrests, calfskin backrests, and decorations around the body.
Many chariots discovered earlier could be compared to modern formats of sedans, station wagons, trucks.
This is a real Lamborghini, defiantly stylish and damn expensive, – said Eric Proper, a professor at the University of Massachusetts.
And many specialists agree with Professor Proper’s opinion, giving credit to the search team that discovered the find.
I still can’t believe what I saw! My jaw is on the floor, – admitted Jane Draycott, a researcher at the University of Glasgow.
The specialists of the team responsible for the discovery are surprised not only by the condition of the chariot but also by the fact that it managed to remain in Pompeii at all. After the volcanic eruption, which was fatal for the city’s population, looters visited the ashes for decades, wanting to profit from valuables that survived the disaster. This is exactly the kind of find one would want to discover in Pompeii. Good preservation, minimal impact of time.
