Glory and name of a Ukrainian river: AutoVAZ determined the names of future models en

As TopZhyr already wrote, AutoVAZ held a competition for the best names for the new products. Then, among other options, we selected the funniest Lada names. Recall that one of the main requirements was association with Russia. But something went wrong. “Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to the heroes!”, – here it’s kind of clear, right. And, apparently, that’s why AutoVAZ chose the name Slava Vakarchuk for one of the new models. Understandable – to hear this word so many times on TV… On the other hand – better Slava than Vyacheslav, right?

But if we pulled Slava by its bumper ears, then with the name Alta, it’s more straightforward.

In the word Alta, one can sense the trace of the Ukrainian hand river (the right tributary of Trubizh). Coincidence? Ok, there’s another meaning. Alta is a commune in northern Norway. Remember: one of the rules is an associative row with Russia…

in that case, they could have been creative, since Alta was liked. They could name one model Ctrl, the second – Delete, and the third – Alt. Onega. Another name chosen by AutoVAZ. Here in Tolyatti, they figured out that it’s the name of a town in the Arkhangelsk region.

Indeed, they probably didn’t think about it being like BMW and BNW, Adidas and Abibas… Omega and Onega. Well, you get it.

Lika. Lika?

Angelica, blueberry… Derived from ancient Russian names? At least it’s not Glykeria – that’s good. The main thing is, a car with such a name shouldn’t be faceless.

We don’t know who currently runs the marketing department at AutoVAZ, but if we were in charge of the plant’s management, we’d consider personnel changes.

Especially, since among the suggested options there were quite good names. But our favorite: Lada Yaga and Lada Vata. However, Lada Zasada isn’t bad either.

As for public reaction, most people liked such names (judging by the likes): Lada Vodka, Tamara, and Aurora. What do you dream of, Lada Aurora…
