AvtoVAZ resumed production but only released 68 cars

AvtoVAZ finally launched the conveyor after several months of downtime. Since June 8, only one model has been produced in Togliatti – the so-called simplified version of Lada Granta.

Essentially, VAZ has rolled back to the USSR because the basic version of the Lada Granta lacks both ABS and airbags. A steering wheel from the Lada Kalina is installed, and the 1.6-liter 90-horsepower engine meets Euro-2 standards.

All this will cost about $10,500. Later, a ‘cool’ version for $12,800 is promised with power steering and front electric windows.

The truth is that even those wishing to return to the USSR may not be able to purchase this masterpiece of automobile engineering. After all, only 68 cars were managed to be assembled on the first day.
