Most 780-horsepower sedans force you to choose an automatic transmission, but this Cadillac does not

Callaway has unveiled the 780-horsepower Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing SC780

Callaway, a renowned American tuner, has introduced a new modification of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing sedan. This version, dubbed the SC780, has received a significant power increase. While the standard car has 668 horsepower, the Callaway version produces 780 horsepower and 912 Nm of torque. Thus, it gains 112 horsepower and a slight increase in torque.

Importantly, the package is available for both the six-speed manual transmission version and the automatic one. Production has already begun.

Technical Changes and Components

The basis of the upgrade is the new GenFourth supercharger system from Callaway. According to the company, the new 3.0-liter twin-screw compressor has a 72% larger displacement than the factory 1.74-liter unit. It works in conjunction with the TripleCooled intercooler system, designed to reduce incoming air temperature and maintain performance during intensive use.

The package also includes a functional carbon fiber hood scoop, carbon fiber engine covers, Callaway badging, special floor mats, sill plates, key fobs, and an authenticity package.

Warranty and Availability

Callaway states that the SC780 package comes with its own limited warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. It can be purchased through authorized Cadillac dealers. Owners of existing CT5-V Blackwings can also send their vehicles to the Callaway factory for upgrading.

Interestingly, Callaway’s approach is almost entirely focused on increasing power, leaving the car’s basic formula unchanged. This is not always the case with similar warranty-supported aftermarket projects. The result is a sedan that surpasses in power models such as the BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E 63, or Audi RS7. Most importantly, it does so by offering a manual transmission, which its competitors lack.

Overall, this project demonstrates that even in the age of electrification and automatic transmissions, enthusiasts exist who seek to preserve the traditions of powerful rear-wheel-drive sedans with a manual gearbox. Callaway doesn’t just add power; it does so with respect for the original design, offering a comprehensive solution that requires no compromises in reliability. This makes the CT5-V Blackwing SC780 one of the most interesting and powerful sedans on the market, capable of satisfying the most discerning fans of high-performance vehicles.
