The internet has shared information about a unique homemade SUV called Uran. The vehicle was built over 15 years, according to RC-Forum.
Uran is a project by the St. Petersburg designer Gennady Khainov, who passed away in September. He came up with the idea of creating an analog of the Hummer back in the early ’90s, and he started implementing the project in 1999.
The SUV is equipped with a huge 16-liter UTD-20 diesel engine with 300 hp, taken from a BMP. Its maximum torque reaches 980 N∙m.
The gearbox and transfer case were borrowed from ZIL-131, and the gearboxes and half-axles from BTR-60. Uran also features independent suspension for all wheels, with parts from a LiAZ bus. The body is made of fiberglass, and the interior is trimmed in leather.
The SUV was only completed in 2013. The vehicle remains unique and is kept in the garage of a Russian deputy. Incidentally, there is a no less cool analog in Ukraine, which Vitali Klitschko liked.
