Sanctions against Russia have led to a rapid rise in car prices. Now new cars in Russia are among the most expensive in the world.
And this is not our invention – this is evidenced by the data of the Russian site Autonews. They compared the prices of popular models in different countries (preliminarily, converting them into one currency at the official exchange rate). Some models in Russia are now 1.5-2 times more expensive than in other countries.

Car prices in Russia and other countries:
- Hyundai Accent/Solaris: Russia – $24,714, USA – $16,645, China – $11,117;
- Dacia/Renault Duster: Russia – €27,484, Romania – €15,300, Brazil – €20,730;
- Nissan Qashqai/Rogue Sport: Russia – €39,697, Germany – €24,831, USA – €23,077;
- Mazda CX-5: Russia – €44,929, Germany – €29,590, France – €32,200, USA – €24,466;
- Volkswagen Tiguan: Russia – €57,329, Germany – €30,625, USA – €24,690;
- Toyota RAV4: Russia – €45,371, Germany – €36,190, Belgium – €37,700, USA – €25,142.
The reason for such prices is the shortage of cars in Russia, as well as currency exchange fluctuations. And it seems that cars will not become cheaper, as even the basic stripped-down version of Lada Granta without power windows, ABS, and airbags will cost $10,500.
