In the Verkhovna Rada, a new bill on cars with European license plates has been registered. It was prepared by the People’s Deputy Yevheniy Bragar in cooperation with representatives of the organization ‘AutoEuroPower’.
The draft law No. 3389 proposes to temporarily (for 180 days) cancel the age coefficient when calculating car excise. This will significantly reduce customs payments – the excise will be 100-300 euros.
The author believes that in this way not only will customs clearance of cars with European license plates become cheaper, but justice will also be restored. He argues that currently, for old and cheap cars, a higher excise tax must be paid than for more expensive new ones. In addition, the bill also proposes to cancel for six months all coefficients in the excise for trucks older than 5 years. All norms apply both to already imported vehicles and to those that are only planned to be brought in. However, it is still unclear when Bragar’s bill will be considered and if it will be at all.
During quarantine, the Verkhovna Rada already has enough concerns, and many important issues have not yet been resolved.
