Chevrolet’s electric pickup receives significant off-road upgrades

Chevrolet introduces the new off-road Silverado EV Trail Boss

Chevrolet has announced a new version of its 2026 electric pickup, the Silverado EV Trail Boss. This model is specifically designed for off-road driving and features several upgrades, including a 2-inch raised suspension, an updated rebound control system, and a dedicated Terrain Mode. Additionally, the Super Cruise system is now integrated with Google Maps for enhanced navigation.

The new Silverado EV Trail Boss offers improved off-road capability thanks to 35-inch off-road tires, unique 18-inch wheels, and red tow hooks. The interior also features distinctive design elements. Interestingly, despite the upgrades, the model retains an impressive range of up to 478 miles, depending on the selected battery.

“The Trail Boss has been one of the most popular options in our lineup since its launch in 2019,” stated Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet.

Specifications and pricing

The base version of the Silverado EV Trail Boss with the extended-range battery starts at $72,095, while the variant with the maximum battery will cost $88,695. The extended-range model can carry up to 2,100 pounds of cargo, and the maximum battery version delivers up to 725 horsepower.

In 2026, Chevrolet will also discontinue the RST version, leaving only the Work Truck, LT, and Trail Boss in the lineup. The updated Super Cruise system now includes automatic lane-keeping and adaptive speed control relative to the vehicle ahead.

Electric pickups are becoming increasingly popular among buyers, and Chevrolet is clearly aiming to solidify its position in this market. The Trail Boss combines traditional off-road advantages with modern technology, making it an appealing option for those seeking a more eco-friendly way to traverse off-road terrain. It’s worth noting that competition in this segment continues to grow, and Chevrolet will need to prove the advantages of its model not just on paper but on real roads as well.
