The new Toyota GR 86 has been officially unveiled. Essentially, this is the second generation of the GT 86 model, but since it was developed in the Gazoo Racing division, the name was slightly changed. Sales are scheduled to start at the end of the year.

It’s not hard to guess that the Toyota GR 86 coupe is a twin to the new Subaru BRZ 2021. There are no revolutions in design: the car retains its characteristic silhouette with a long hood, slanted headlights, and a wide grille.
The Toyota sports car has become slightly larger and now reaches 4265 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2575 mm. The car’s weight is 1270 kg, and the body has become 50% more rigid.

The interior finish has become more refined, with a virtual instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen appearing inside. The base configuration of the Toyota GR 86 has been complemented with automatic braking and lane-keeping systems.

Like the BRZ, the new Toyota GR 86 2021 is equipped with a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine and 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions. The power is 235 hp at 7000 rpm, and the torque is 250 Nm at 3700 rpm. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 6.3 seconds.
