Geely introduces new Galaxy TT, directly competing with Xiaomi’s most popular model SU7

Chinese automaker Geely has introduced the new electric sedan Galaxy TT, which will be a direct competitor to the popular Xiaomi SU7 model. Sales of the car will start next month, although prices have not yet been announced.

Design and aerodynamics

Like most modern Chinese electric vehicles, the Galaxy TT has a streamlined body that minimizes air resistance and increases range. The car features a smooth front end with LED headlights, darkened air intakes, and a lidar mounted above the windshield. The side panels also stand out with smooth lines, hidden door handles, and compact mirrors. The rear of the car has LED taillights and a light strip.

The dimensions of the Geely Galaxy TT are 4,999 mm in length, 1,919 mm in width, and 1,479 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

Technical specifications and batteries

The car is built on an 800-volt architecture and will be offered with three battery options:

The range will vary from 540 km to 725 km according to the CLTC cycle.

Powertrains

The Galaxy TT will have two engine options. Base models will get a rear electric motor with 329 hp, while dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions will develop 570 hp. Although this does not allow competition with the top versions of the SU7 Ultra, such figures are sufficient to rival the mid-range modifications of the Xiaomi.

Interior

The car’s interior has a typical design for Chinese electric vehicles. It is equipped with a large central infotainment display, a digital instrument panel, and a sporty three-spoke steering wheel. The car also features two wireless smartphone chargers, round air vents, and a small analog clock, adding retro accents to the interior.

The launch of the Geely Galaxy TT on the market indicates a further intensification of competition in the electric sedan segment in China. The company is trying to offer buyers an alternative to the Xiaomi SU7, which is currently a bestseller in its price category. It is worth noting that Geely is betting on a variety of battery options, allowing buyers to choose between a more affordable price and maximum range. However, the ultimate success of the model will depend on pricing, which the company is keeping secret for now. If Geely manages to offer the Galaxy TT at a competitive price, it could significantly impact the balance of power in this market segment.
