New Genesis GV60 Magma Prepares for Debut
It has been two years since the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N was presented and three years since the Kia EV6 GT appeared. Now Genesis, the luxury division of the Korean conglomerate, is preparing to introduce its own powerful electric vehicle on the same platform.
The GV60 Magma, where Magma is the new performance series from Genesis, will debut at the Goodwood Festival in July. This will happen exactly one year after the concept was shown at the same event.
Previous spy photos suggest that the production version will differ from the concept, but new images confirm: the rear spoiler has remained almost unchanged. It is still hidden by camouflage, but its shape is already clear – the side elements are even larger than those of the concept model.
In addition, the rear diffuser and roof fins have also been carried over from the concept. The design of the arch-like fender flares is reminiscent of the Lamborghini Huracán, although it is difficult to make out the details in these photos.
Technical Expectations
The Magma will likely receive an 84 kWh battery, like the Ioniq 5 N and EV6 GT. However, their real range of about 320 km (200 miles) does not look very convincing, so Genesis could consider higher-capacity solutions. Previous reports indicate that power could exceed 641 hp to emphasize the brand’s leadership within the group. A virtual gear shift system, which was well-received in the Ioniq 5 N, is also expected.
The Goodwood Festival has always been a place for high-profile premieres, and the debut of the GV60 Magma will be no exception. Given the growing competition among electric vehicles, Genesis is betting not only on technology but also on emotions – which is why design and dynamics play a key role in this model.
