In just a few weeks, Hennessey will expand its lineup by introducing a second mid-engine model. Ahead of Monterey Car Week, the American manufacturer released a teaser of a brand new hypercar, which has been given the codename “Project Overlord.”
For several years, Hennessey has been producing and supplying the Venom F5 model, recently introducing the limited-edition F5-M Roadster. However, in parallel, the company has been working for over two years on creating another hypercar that will be sold alongside the F5.
Design and First Impressions
The teaser shows the rear of the car, where a semi-circular LED light is visible, neatly positioned between two painted body panels and mounted above a black mesh grille. The look promises to be aggressive and extremely captivating.
Philosophy and Technical Specifications
Not much is known yet about the technical specifications of the model. Two years ago, John Hennessey described it in an interview with CarBuzz as a “lightweight, high-revving, driver-focused car” that the company had long wanted to add to its lineup. Like the F5, this hypercar will be fully developed and manufactured in-house, without using existing production cars. In a separate interview, Hennessey called Project Overlord the American successor to the iconic Porsche Carrera GT.

Expectations and Prospects
It remains a mystery what performance goals Hennessey is aiming for with this new model. If it is slightly smaller and lighter than the Venom F5, possibly with a simpler powertrain and, likely, a manual transmission, it could become an American alternative to the Lamborghini Temerario or McLaren 765LT. Given Hennessey’s smaller production capacity compared to these brands, it is expected that fewer units will be produced, and each will cost over seven figures.
Whatever the final form of Project Overlord may be, the wait will not be long: Hennessey will unveil it on August 3rd. Hypercar buyers should prepare their bank accounts.
