The facelifted Renault Duster differs from the first-generation model with different headlights, a grille, and the presence of running lights. There are also new body colors, wheels, and stylish roof rails. The innovations are not global but have positively affected the exterior. There are not many changes inside either. But if you compare the latest Duster with the transitional one, there is already a difference.
We already published a comparative video test of the new and old Duster, and today we will talk about the model that was sold from leftovers in parallel with the new Duster.
The new Duster has seats with improved profile and lateral support, as well as a longer cushion. In front of the driver is a modernized dashboard. While creating the Duster New, engineers worked on sound insulation. In the initial version – ABS and front airbags for the driver and passenger.
For an extra fee, an ESP stability control system and additional airbags are offered. Of significant importance is the appearance of a hill start assist system, which holds the car for a few seconds when starting uphill. The new crossover features climate control, whereas previously only air conditioning was available. It is also worth noting that the transitional Duster has the same steering wheel as the new one. Moreover, there is an opinion that cars that are discontinued for the release of a new model are the most reliable and trouble-free since all nuances and “ailments” are resolved over production time, whereas absolutely new cars may present certain issues at the beginning of production.
Regarding conveniences, the transitional model has many shelves and niches, the new one has significantly fewer, but the display is shifted upward – this is much more convenient than the predecessor, where the screen is placed too low. If the Duster is needed as a car for active recreation, the diesel engine will be optimal in all parameters. Preferably, its boosted variant with 110 horsepower. This engine is torquey and uses 6-7 liters in mixed cycle, not being extravagant even when driving off-road. Gasoline engines are not particularly economical, especially the top 143-horsepower unit with automatic transmission.
What is good about both the new and the previous Duster is that they are practically twins in terms of technical specifications, except perhaps for the steering amplifier (the old one has hydraulic, the new one – electric). Renault Duster does not stand out with special technological features. Moreover, it is simple inside and out. This model belongs to the class of crossovers, but in terms of passability, Duster surpasses many competitors. Ride smoothness and off-road capabilities are the key features of the Renault Duster, whose cabin comfortably accommodates 5 people.
Given the epidemic and the desire of many to get away from people – Duster is a very suitable option as it will definitely travel further than a classic passenger car. By the way, during the coronavirus pandemic and for simple convenience at any time of the year, there is quick car rental, which allows you to temporarily acquire a car.
