Kyiv rose in the global Traffic Index ranking for traffic jams for 2021. The capital of Ukraine climbed five positions and took third place in the world.
Kyiv’s indicator is 56%, meaning that due to congestion, drivers in Kyiv spend 56% more time on the road. The Ukrainian capital was surpassed only by Moscow (61%) and Istanbul (62%). Even in Mumbai, India, with its chaotic roads, the congestion is less.

Odesa rose to sixth place in the ranking (51%). Kharkiv became 12th (46%), and Dnipro was in 25th position (40%). An interesting detail is that in all Ukrainian cities, traffic jams increased, while globally, traffic decreased compared to 2019 due to quarantine restrictions.
The Traffic Index rating is annually compiled by the navigation manufacturer TomTom. Experts studied data from 404 cities in 58 countries around the world.
