Clarkson Rode in the New Gordon Murray T.50 Supercar with a V12, and Here’s What He Said (Video)

Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson evaluated the new Gordon Murray T.50 supercar during a ride as a passenger. The car was tested by British journalist Harry Metcalfe, who spent five days testing the pre-production prototype on UK roads. This is reported by Carscoops.

During the test, Metcalfe visited his farm neighbor—Jeremy Clarkson. The TV host could not drive the car himself because the seat in the T.50 is individually adjusted for a specific driver.

The supercar received a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine developed by Cosworth. The unit’s power is 654 hp, and the maximum torque is 467 Nm.

The engine revs up to 11,500 rpm. The power unit works together with a six-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.

Acceleration to 96 km/h takes less than 3 seconds. The car’s top speed is about 364 km/h.

Jeremy Clarkson Noted the Sound of the Gordon Murray T.50 Engine

Clarkson and Metcalfe highly praised the performance of the naturally aspirated V12. The TV host called the engine “extraordinary” but noted that it is very loud.

Due to the seating arrangement in the cabin, it is not very convenient to talk while driving.

The supercar also has unusual steering. The power steering only works at speeds up to approximately 14 km/h, making maneuvering during slow driving easier.

Harry Metcalfe overall positively evaluated the car but noted that it turned out to be more extreme than expected.

Clarkson, for his part, said that the car did not evoke the same “excitement” in him that James May had previously spoken about, although the journalist suggested that the opinion might have changed if the TV host had been behind the wheel himself.
