Classic Land Rover Defender returned to production: but there is a nuance (photo)

The Dutch workshop The Landrovers restores classic Land Rover Defenders and turns them into modern SUVs. The most expensive version Panterra received a fully electric powertrain, independent suspension and a 200 kWh battery. This is reported by Top Gear.

The Landrovers Panterra is equipped with four electric motors installed directly in the wheels. They provide all-wheel drive and adaptive torque distribution between the wheels. The total system power is 600 hp, and torque is 6400 Nm.

The electric Defender weighs 2900 kg. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, and the claimed range reaches 604 km. The large battery is placed in different parts of the car, while the weight distribution between the axles is close to 50:50.

New attachment points for the fully independent suspension were developed for the Panterra. Buyers can choose pneumatic or coilover spring suspension. The car also has an electric steering rack with a sharper gear ratio and three levels of regenerative braking.

The price of The Landrovers Panterra starts at almost 425 thousand pounds sterling, or approximately $570,000 and 23.6 million hryvnias. The electric powertrain adds about 100 thousand euros to the price of the gasoline version. Basic restomods with a V8 cost from the equivalent of 335 thousand pounds sterling.

The workshop’s gasoline Defenders are equipped with V8 engines from Chevrolet Corvette with power from 450 to 650 hp. All cars are assembled in the Netherlands. The company produces 28 cars per year, and each one takes about 3000 hours of work to create.

The interior of the Panterra is reworked using leather and machined aluminum. At the same time, some parts are selected so that they can be replaced with standard Land Rover spare parts if necessary.
