Toyota updates TRD Pro lineup for 2027: new colors and improved suspension
Toyota has introduced a new signature color for its TRD Pro pickups and SUVs — a shade called HoneyComb, which will appear on the 2027 Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma. For the 4Runner TRD Pro, a separate variant — Hot Honey — has been developed.
According to company representatives, the new paint gives the TRD Pro models
“a bold, striking look that accentuates their adventurous nature”
. One can only hope that bears and bees will appreciate the design.
Chassis updates for full-size models
In addition to the new colors, the full-size pickup and SUV have received several off-road improvements. The Tundra TRD Pro and Sequoia TRD Pro are equipped with FOX Enhanced QS3 shocks, tuned separately for each model. The adjustable dampers are designed to improve feedback and stability on rough terrain. Toyota has also made red tow hooks standard equipment.
Powertrain unchanged
Under the hood, nothing has changed: the Tundra and Sequoia TRD Pro continue to use the i-Force MAX hybrid system. It combines a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor, producing a total of 437 hp (326 kW / 443 hp) and 790 Nm of torque.
Pricing for the 2027 Toyota TRD Pro lineup will be announced closer to the start of production, scheduled for fall 2026.
Production and other innovations
The TRD Pro updates follow the unveiling of the refreshed 2027 Sequoia and Tundra. Both models have received a new Trailhunter trim, standard 14-inch touchscreens, and the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 system. Full-size vehicles are built in San Antonio, Texas. Toyota is also preparing to move Tacoma production from Mexico to Texas, starting in 2030.
The new colors and technical enhancements make the TRD Pro even more appealing to outdoor enthusiasts. The updated suspension and vibrant shades are expected to attract buyers looking not only for off-road capability but also for individual style. It is worth noting that the hybrid powertrain remains unchanged, which could be both an advantage (proven reliability) and a drawback (competitors offer more diverse options). The relocation of Tacoma production to the US reflects a localization strategy and could affect the model’s price in the future.
