Competitor of the G-Wagen from Land Rover Named After the Carpathians

The new Land Rover Defender V8 has been unveiled. The top-of-the-line charged SUV will go on sale in the summer at a price of just over 100,000 euros. It has also received an exclusive limited edition called the Carpathian Edition, named after the Carpathians.

The Land Rover Defender V8 is equipped with a five-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 525 hp and 625 Nm of torque. With these specifications, the Defender will become a competitor to the Mercedes-AMG G63.

With an 8-speed automatic transmission, it accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 240 km/h. The SUV also comes with an electronic rear differential, improved suspension with larger stabilizers, and enhanced brakes.

From the standard 2021 Land Rover Defender, the V8 variant differs with 22-inch wheels and four exhaust pipes. In the Carpathian Edition, there is also a special two-tone paint and blue brake calipers, and the body is covered with protective film. The interior of the Defender is trimmed with leather and alcantara.

By the way, we have suspicions about why the Defender Carpathian Edition might have appeared. Our colleagues from Infocar tested the new Defender in the Carpathians, not without adventures. The channel’s author nearly crashed in the Defender when it slid off a mountain due to a glitch with the electronic aids in the off-road. The video became resonant, and Land Rover engineers investigated the situation and even visited Kyiv, and it is possible that this led to the decision to launch the “Carpathian” version of the model.
