As it turns out, the coronavirus in China is dangerous not only for people – the epidemic can have serious consequences for the automotive industry. The fact is that Wuhan, where the outbreak has been reported, is a major center of the Chinese automotive industry with factories of many well-known manufacturers.
In this city are located joint ventures of Dongfeng with PSA Group, Honda, and Renault, as well as a General Motors plant. In addition, a joint venture of Geely and Lotus is being built in Wuhan. It should be noted that the factories produce products for the local market and do not supply cars for export. 
Due to the emergency situation, Citroen and Honda factories are halted. Representatives of PSA Group have already announced their intention to evacuate 38 people from Wuhan.
The Renault plant is also closed, although this is a planned conveyor shutdown for the Chinese New Year. And General Motors has introduced a special visit mode to Wuhan for employees.
