It seems we have found the ideal car for today’s times. This is the well-known Tavria, which was once not only the most affordable car in Ukraine but also one of the cheapest cars in the world! And although it hasn’t been produced for a long time, some Ukrainians are giving ZAZ cars a second life.
Recently, a subscriber of our Inst TopGir photographed an unusual Tavria in one of the capital’s parking lots. Perhaps no one would ever have paid attention to it, but first, it was plugged into an outlet, and second, solar panels could be seen on the car’s roof.

Since the car owner was not around (so the photo author could ask him for details), we searched for information online, and we found it. It turns out this electric Tavria was made ten years ago!

This is a 2001 Tavria, which became a donor for an ultra-budget electric car. Ultimately, through the efforts of its new owner, he managed to create a compact urban electric car for a ‘pittance’, capable of accelerating to 90 km/h and traveling 40-50 kilometers without recharging. Let us emphasize again, this car was made 10 (!) years ago, and judging by the fresh photos, the car is still running. The homemade electric car charges from a regular outlet in just 2 hours!
The total budget amounted to about $7,000, but considering modern technologies and their cost reduction, we think the budget for such an electric car would now be $5,000. Electric ZAZ – why not the perfect car in today’s fuel prices and its scarcity?
