Mercedes-AMG offers you to forget about the EQC with this new electric vehicle

The next generation of the GLC will compete with rivals such as the BMW iX3 in the electric crossover segment.

At the top of the lineup will sit the GLC AMG EV with over 500 horsepower.

It will be based on Mercedes’ MB.EA platform, which supports 800-volt charging for faster charging.

Mercedes-Benz provided a preview of the new fully electric GLC earlier this month, and now our spies have captured images of the prototype version during testing. Although it’s still hidden under the signature camouflage covering, there are some key visual differences that set this hot GLC apart, as well as intriguing updates under the cover.

This prototype is fully enclosed in white and black camouflage, but there are noticeable differences between this AMG GLC and the regular model. The hood looks a bit more muscular, and it has a different set of headlights, although these lights seem temporary. The final product headlights should be very similar or identical to the standard GLC.

Mercedes-AMG has also equipped the electric crossover with new higher wheels, making the entire vehicle appear slightly stricter. Most of the rear is covered in snow, but there is a large spoiler recess at the back, though it is clearly temporary, and the finished model won’t look like that.

This brand-new GLC will replace the EQC and is one of 17 new electric vehicles Mercedes has promised to release in the coming years. When it hits the market, the GLC will face competition from the BMW iX3, which has also undergone a full redesign for the next generation.

Platform and Charging Power

It will be built on Mercedes’ MB.EA platform, a modular electric architecture that supports 800-volt charging with a maximum charging rate of up to 320 kW. This means faster charging times and greater overall efficiency.

Unlike the outgoing EQC, which never received a full AMG version, the upcoming GLC EV AMG will bring a substantial amount of power. The AMG Line EQC topped out at 402 hp, but this new AMG variant will likely exceed 500 hp, possibly even crossing the 600 hp mark with a pair of powerful electric motors.
