by Mercedes-Benz Prepares a New GLC EQ Electric Model
Mercedes-Benz continues to expand its lineup of electric vehicles, despite market changes. The new GLC model with EQ Technology, which will replace the less successful EQC, will be presented in September at the IAA Mobility auto show. This electric SUV will become an important player for the German brand, competing with the BMW iX3 and Porsche Macan Electric.
The design of the new model has received updates, including illuminated radiator grille and logo. The car will be equipped with an 800-volt system, allowing for fast battery charging – approximately 260 km (162 miles) of range in 10 minutes. The first to hit the market will be the GLC 400 4Matic with EQ Technology version, with more powerful modifications expected later.
Technological Features and Presentation
Mercedes has already shown a teaser of the future model, and test prototypes seen earlier confirm significant design changes. In addition to the electric GLC, at the exhibition in Munich, the company will present the MB.Drive Assist Pro semi-autonomous driving system and other innovations, including the Concept AMG GT XX concept.
Although exact technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, it is obvious that Mercedes is betting on fast charging and modern design. This could become a serious advantage in the fight for buyers, who are increasingly choosing electric crossovers. The updated BMW iX3 and other competitors are already preparing their responses, so the competition in the market is heating up.
