Mercedes updates its most accessible crossover model with an electric version

New Mercedes GLA: first photos and expected changes

The new Mercedes GLA, which is being prepared for a redesign, was spotted during testing in Europe. Although the car is still hidden under camouflage, more refined and premium design features can already be noticed. The crossover will be built on the MMA platform and will receive several powertrain options, including a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a fully electric version.

Previous shots show that the model will have a closed radiator grille, sharp headlights, and narrow air intakes. The body design has become more streamlined, with pronounced lines, integrated door handles, and a more dynamic silhouette. The rear has also been updated — it looks more aggressive thanks to sleek taillights with star motifs and a new bumper.

Technical features and interior

The interior is likely to inherit the minimalist approach characteristic of new Mercedes models. Drivers are expected to get a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment screen, and the possibility of installing an additional display for the passenger. All systems will run on the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System with artificial intelligence integration from Microsoft and Google.

The fully electric version will have two engines providing all-wheel drive, a combined power of 349 hp and a torque of 515 Nm. An 85 kWh battery will allow for fast charging at stations with a power of up to 320 kW.

A hybrid variant with a 1.5-liter petrol engine, a 1.3 kWh battery, and an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed gearbox will also appear in the lineup. The plug-in hybrid version remains one of the possible options, offering buyers a wide choice.

The updated GLA will become an important player in the compact crossover segment, combining modern design, advanced technology, and diverse powertrains. Its market launch could significantly intensify competition among premium models in this class.
