Mitsubishi Triton could transform from an ugly duckling into a true swan

Updated Mitsubishi Triton design in renders

The Mitsubishi Triton pickup, which debuted in 2023, could receive an update just two years after its launch. The inspiration for the redesign was the new Mitsubishi Destinator SUV. Digital artist Theophilus Chin created interesting concepts, showing what the changes to the model’s exterior might look like.

Main exterior changes:

Technology and competition

The Triton update is expected to potentially include not only design changes but also technological improvements. Among possible innovations are hybrid and electrified versions, which would allow the pickup to compete with new models on the market. The challenge from Chinese manufacturers, who are actively developing their segment, is particularly important.

The Triton platform will also become the basis for the next generation Nissan Navara, which will expand its market presence. At the same time, traditional competitors, such as the Ford Ranger or Volkswagen Amarok, continue to update their models, so Mitsubishi will have to make an effort to maintain its position.

Although the exact timing of the update is not yet known, experts suggest that the official debut could take place in 2027-2028. This will allow the company not only to update the design but also to offer customers modern technologies that are becoming standard for the segment. An important aspect remains preserving the utilitarian character of the car, which has always been one of its strengths.
