Modellista’s Minivan Model Looks Incredible and Could Go on Sale

Modellista’s Concept Minivan for the Tokyo Auto Salon

Toyota-owned tuning atelier Modellista has announced the premiere of a new concept car at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon. The company has released a teaser image showcasing a minivan with very bright and technologically advanced LED lighting, executed in a modern style.

Judging by the visible outlines of the roof, hood, and characteristic daytime running lights, the concept is based on the latest generation of the popular Toyota Alphard minivan. The front-end design is sharp and sculptural, with a clearly defined splitter.

Modellista states that the minivan draws inspiration from the Embryo concept shown last year and aims to offer “features that appeal to the five senses.”

Future Plans and Accompanying Premiere

The company positions this development as a “flagship image leader” aimed at future series production. Currently, Modellista already offers full body kits for the Alphard and its “brother” the Vellfire, but the new concept could mark the beginning of an even more ambitious level of customization.

Alongside the minivan, another prototype, this time based on the Lexus RX SUV, will be presented at the stand. This model, executed in the spirit of the brand’s “Geometrical organic” design language, is expected on the market very soon.

Official Presentation and Related Merchandise

The official debut of both novelties will take place on January 9 during Modellista’s press event at Makuhari Messe, Tokyo. In addition to the cars, the company will present and begin selling items from the “Modellista Collection.”

The assortment will include:

Visitors who fill out a questionnaire on-site will receive a free eco-bag. And those who subscribe to Modellista’s Instagram account can qualify for a license plate-style keychain.

Modellista’s premieres clearly show how the tuning market is changing in the premium segment, especially in Asia. The emphasis is not only on an aggressive exterior but also on creating a comprehensive experience for the driver and passengers — through sensory-influencing design and accessories for personal expression. Such concepts, based on series models, often serve as a litmus test for gauging public reaction, and high demand can quickly turn them into commercial offerings. This indicates a deeper integration of tuning ateliers into the development and marketing processes of the parent company’s main brands.
