From the American auction Barrett-Jackson, the 1999 Vector M12 will be sold. The supercar is truly rare – only 14 such coupes were produced. They plan to fetch at least half a million dollars for it.

Vector is essentially the first American supercar. The company produced cars in small series from the late 80s. Initially, the Vector M12 was planned to be equipped with a 1000-horsepower turbocharged V8 and was supposed to reach 400 km/h.

However, in the early 90s, the company went bankrupt and was bought by the Malaysian conglomerate Megatech, which at the time owned the Lamborghini brand. The new owners decided to launch the M12 into production with an engine from the Lamborghini Diablo.

Of course, this 5.7-liter V12 was not as powerful – 492 hp. However, the coupe turned out to be quite fast for its time – it could reach 306 km/h and accelerate to a hundred in 4.8 seconds.

This particular car was ordered by the Sultan of Brunei, but the American supercar did not reach the buyer. Two years ago, the Vector M12 was restored, and its mileage is just 3,500 km.
