Strange Cars from Uganda Will Begin to Be Sold on the Russian Market

Russia is preparing for the import substitution of Toyota, Nissan, and Volkswagen with African models. Specifically, it’s about cars from Uganda. This was reported by Focus.

Kiira EV

The Ugandan ambassador to the Russian Federation, Moses Kizige, stated that local brand Kiira models will soon enter the Russian market. This decision was made in response to the construction of a plant in Uganda for assembling KamAZ trucks from Russian kits.

Kiira EV Smack

Kiira was founded in Uganda in 2007 by a group of students, and four years later, it released the first African electric vehicle with the concise name EV. The two-seater hatchback with a plastic body is only 3 meters long.

The Kiira EV electric car is equipped with a small 26-horsepower engine and a small lithium-ion battery. It accelerates to 100 km/h, and its range is 80 km. Given its characteristics, the car is not cheap — it costs approximately 20,000 dollars.

Kiira EVS

Then, a four-seater model, the Kiira EV Smack, appeared for $31,000. The hatchback is offered with a 107-horsepower hybrid setup and can travel 32 km on electric power and reach a speed of 140 km/h. Based on it, a gasoline coupe EVS with a 2.0-liter engine was also presented — it will be sold for 35,000 dollars.
