Germans Presented the Hurricane Hypercar Mercedes-AMG One (photo)

Four years after the prototype was shown, Mercedes finally dared to officially debut the hypercar, which claims the title of the most technologically advanced and progressive car of modern times. Its name is Mercedes-AMG One, and it was presented by Lewis Hamilton himself.

For those who are not aware, Hamilton is not only a 7-time Formula 1 champion but also an honorary member of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team. It is not surprising that he was entrusted to present the novelty, as it is essentially a Formula 1 car in a “civilian” guise.

The body of the Mercedes-AMG One is entirely carbon, and in terms of aerodynamics, the Germans consider it an engineering masterpiece. The engine is appropriate – a Formula 1 1.6 turbo with 6 cylinders from the Mercedes-AMG W06 Hybrid car. It has four camshafts, and steel springs are replaced by a pneumatic system. So, as you already understood, the power unit is hybrid. The engine redlines at 11,000 rpm (it could go higher, but the Germans detuned it slightly to “digest” commonly available 98-octane petrol).

The internal combustion engine works with electric motors, and the total power exceeds 1000 hp. Hamilton admitted that the sound similarity between a Formula 1 car and the Mercedes-AMG hypercar is striking.

In other words, buyers of this hypercar will get a car legalized for public roads. But there are two nuances. The first – the car costs 3 million euros. The second – the entire run (275 units) has already been sold, so even if you sold the kidneys of all your relatives up to the fifth generation, you are still late. The first units of the Mercedes-AMG One will begin shipping to customers in the second half of 2021.
