Nissan may currently be trying to find a way out of a complex situation, perhaps through collaboration with a partner, but has found time to create a special sushi knife, the Nismo Precision. For some reason, the automaker not only wants you to buy its cars but also to use a knife with the Z logo in your kitchen.
The special knife is handmade by Japanese knife specialist Satoshi Kiryu in Niigata Prefecture. Only 240 pieces will be made, each costing quite a bit – $300.23. Nissan reports that Kiryu has always been a fan of the Z models, and the side profile of the new Z inspired the knife’s design. The project also involved collaboration with the Nissan Design America team and sushi chef Hiroyuki Terada.

Each Z knife is individually marked with a red blade number. As already noted, only 240 knives have been created, honoring the legendary 240Z model. Each knife also features Chef Hiro’s signature and Kiryu’s initials and comes in a special box with various Z logos used over six generations of this car. The double-edged blade is cut, sharpened, and polished by hand before being perfectly honed.
“A free chef is only when he has a great knife,” said Terada. “Knives of this style, like this one, make our art as refined as possible. Whether you are a professional chef or a passionate home cook, you will immediately feel the quality in your hand.”
Of course, there’s room for debate over whether people will actually use this knife for cutting sushi and not as a decorative item. However, if you have the desire to own a product from Nissan Z, it could be an interesting if somewhat unconventional addition to your collection.
