by The new Lada Iskra debuted. The compact sedan is not an independent development, as it is based on the third-generation Dacia/Renault Logan. This is reported by Focus.
Of course, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov did not announce this at the presentation, but only stated that the model was developed in record time and built on a completely localized modern platform.
This platform is nothing else but the Renault CMF-B LS, which is also used in the third-generation Logan. It was planned to be produced in Russia, but the full-scale invasion of Ukraine forced Renault to abandon the project, sell its Russian assets, and completely cease cooperation with AvtoVAZ. Essentially, Renault Logan was transformed into Lada Iskra, and its development was obviously carried out without a license from Renault.
In addition, the similarity of Lada Iskra and Renault/Dacia Logan profiles is obvious – the silhouettes of the cars are the same. The Russian sedan differs in the design of the front part, fenders, and headlights.
As for the engines, Lada Iskra borrowed them from other models of the brand. The sedan will be equipped with the same 1.6-liter fours with 90 and 106 hp, as in Lada Granta and Vesta. Chinese 6-speed manual transmission and CVT will be offered for choice.
The new Lada Iskra will go into production from 2025. The sedan will take a place between the Lada Granta and Vesta.
