The AMG performance division has unveiled the new generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, which has completely abandoned the V8 gasoline engine in favor of an electric powertrain. The new model is built on the AMG.EA platform and features up to three electric motors. Mercedes-Benz Media reports on this.

The new electric fastback succeeds the previous AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, which in its top versions was equipped with a hybrid system based on a twin-turbo V8 producing up to 831 hp. The model has now fully switched to electric power and will compete with the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT.

Engineers have also added the AMGFORCE S+ system, which simulates the sound of the gasoline V8 from the AMG GT R and creates a gear shifting effect. The car features nine levels of traction control, AMG Active Ride Control air suspension, all-wheel steering, and carbon-ceramic front brakes.
