New cars in Ukraine may become 15-20 percent more expensive

From the new year, Ukrainian motorists may be in for an unpleasant surprise. Prices for new cars may rise by about 15-18%. The reason is environmental standards. New cars in Ukraine may become 15-20 percent more expensive

The General Director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Motor Vehicle Importers and Dealers Oleg Nazarenko explained that according to the plan, it is from January 1, 2020, that Euro-6 eco-standards should come into force in Ukraine. Euro-6 standard cars are on average 15-18% more expensive than cars with Euro-5 engines.

As it is known, many market players propose to postpone the introduction of Euro-6 in Ukraine until 2025. According to Oleg Nazarenko, the relevant bill has already been approved in the tax and transport committees of the Verkhovna Rada. However, passing it is constantly being postponed due to the land law or the adoption of the 2020 budget. The last chance to cancel Euro-6 will be in December. However, the production of 2020 cars for Ukraine has already begun.

And, as Oleg Nazarenko reported, these cars comply with Euro-6 standards since automakers are guided by the current legislation.
