In 2020, Toyota introduced the GR Yaris — not just a hot hatchback, but a real explosion in the segment. It was a car that reminded everyone that passion and performance can exist in a compact body. Now the model has been updated for 2025, adding a more aggressive design, more power, and a redesigned interior.
The base version is now called GT, and the top version is GTS. The latter received red brake calipers, two limited-slip differentials, lightweight BBS wheels, an updated suspension, and grippier Michelin tires. An intercooler spray system, like in the old Mitsubishi Evos, has also appeared.
Technical Specifications
Interior: Functional, But Not Luxurious
The interior has been completely redesigned — the center console is now curved towards the driver, and the seats have been lowered by 25 mm. However, the main material remains hard plastic, which for a car at this price doesn’t look very convincing. The 12.3-inch digital instrument panel looks modern, but the multimedia system remains quite simple.
Performance and Handling
The three-cylinder engine sounds incredible — reminiscent of a real rally car. The acceleration is impressive: 5.0 seconds to 100 km/h for the manual version and 4.7 seconds for the automatic. For the first time, an eight-speed automatic transmission has been offered for the GR Yaris, which works very well, although not as fast as the dual-clutch gearboxes of its competitors.

Despite the high price and imperfect interior, the GR Yaris remains one of the best hot hatchbacks on the market. It is fast, exciting at any speed, and looks like a real sports car. If Toyota improved the quality of the interior materials a bit, it would be an almost perfect car.
