New Skoda Crossover for 25 Thousand Euros May Deprive BMW of Its Place in Europe’s Top Three

New Skoda Epiq Electric Crossover

Unlike some manufacturers who are hesitating to switch to electric vehicles, Skoda continues to actively develop this direction. The Czech brand, owned by the Volkswagen Group, is preparing to launch five new electric models, among which is the compact Epiq. The first test photos have already appeared online.

After the concept presentation in the spring of 2024, there was little information about the Epiq, but the production version is expected this year. The estimated price will be around 25,000 euros.

Technical Features

The Epiq, which will take a place in the lineup below the larger Elroq, uses a front-wheel-drive version of the MEB platform. The car’s design is inspired by the 2022 7S concept. With a length of about 4.1 meters, it offers a spacious interior and a 490-liter trunk.

“The Epiq will offer an ‘epic’ level of space for passengers,” Skoda states.

The interior features a large touch screen, complemented by physical buttons. The declared range is about 400 km. The model will likely get two battery options (38 kWh and 56 kWh), and the top versions will get a 222 hp motor, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds.

In 2023, Skoda ranked fourth in sales in Europe, losing to BMW by only 8,000 cars. The success of the new electric model could help the brand climb even higher.

In recent years, Skoda has significantly changed its market positioning – from a low-cost manufacturer to a serious competitor to premium brands. The company’s electric strategy seems to be designed for long-term success, especially considering the growing demand for compact electric vehicles in cities.
